Over 150 civic guests and dignitaries filled the Guildhall on 13 May for Lichfield City Council's annual meeting, at which the new Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Sheriff were elected for the ensuing year.

The new Mayor is Councillor Bob Awty, and his wife, Eileen, will be Mayoress. Bob is a City and District councillor for the Leomansley ward, having been first elected in May 2007. Both Bob and Eileen were born in Lichfield and are delighted and honoured to be serving their native city. The Mayor's charity for the year will be the Friends of the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital.

The new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Mrs Norma Bacon, and her husband, Brian, will be the Deputy Mayor's Consort. Norma has been a City councillor for 14 years, and was Mayor in 2005 and Sheriff in 2008.

Completing the civic team is Terry Thomas who was elected to the ancient office of Sheriff of the City. His wife, Penny, will be the Sheriff's Lady. Terry is a councillor for the Chadsmead Ward having been first elected in December 2005. He is no stranger to civic office having been Mayor in 2009 and Sheriff in 2007. Terry's charity for the year will be St Giles Hospice.
