Christmas Greetings from Limburg an der Lahn

Published: 04 December 2012

Dear Friends in Lichfield

As Mayor of Limburg an der Lahn, I send warm Christmas greetings to all our friends in Lichfield.

2012 is now coming to a close, and once again we look back on a successful year of our friendship with our ring twin town of Sainte Foy-lès-Lyon.

We have done many activities together: events between groups, work placements within the councils, and, of course, many exchanges between individuals and families. The highlight of the year was the 20th anniversary of our Ring Twinning with Sainte Foy-lès-Lyon, which we celebrated altogether in Limburg from 28 September to 1 October. The weekend began with the opening ceremony in Limburg's civic hall when the three mayors signed a charter to mark this anniversary. Another highlight was the official unveiling of the repaved Europaplatz (Europe Square); since the summer of this year, the crests of the twin towns have been on display there for all. The many talks, musical and sports events, and other activities which took place throughout Limburg in the course of the weekend showed that our twinning is still very much alive. For this occasion, a booklet of over 120 pages charting the first 20 years of our twinning was produced, and hopefully many more years of friendship and twinning will follow.

I wish you all a lovely Christmas and a happy and successful new year.
