Appeal on behalf of the Royal British Legion Remembrance Sunday 11 November 2012
Published: 25 October 2012
As Mayor of Lichfield City it is my great honour and privilege to take part in the launch of the 2012 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. On Sunday 11 November at 11.00 am all around the nation people will pause to remember those who were injured or lost their in past conflicts. We are all indebted to service personnel who put their lives on the line and make sacrifices for their country. I would encourage everyone to show their support for the brave men and women of our armed forces, to give generously to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal, and to wear their poppy with pride.
Money collected is used for care and support for military families, including grants, employment advice and funding, emotional support, tribunal and inquest advice, care homes and family breaks, as well as helping service personnel returning from Afghanistan and other past conflicts. For 2012 the national target is £42 million, so please remember every penny donated will help towards that goal.
Councillor Mrs Janet Eagland
