Not so much a whitewash more a wash-out

Mayor of Lichfield, Cllr Janet Eagland, hands the trophy to Hank Vyse of the Bowling Club.

Despite dreadful weather, the Mayor of Lichfield, Cllr Mrs Janet Eagland led the Lichfield City Council team in the annual Swinfen Broun Challenge Trophy bowls match against the Museum Bowling Club on Monday, 16 July. Cllr Eagland was first Mayor in 2001 when her team won, but her winning streak was not to be repeated as the Bowling Club took the trophy 107 to 69.

Following a soaking in the persistent rain the teams gratefully retired to the Hub for supper prepared by the ladies of the Bowling Club.
