Lichfield's French twin town of Sainte Foy-les-Lyon is inviting an artist from Lichfield to exhibit in May at their arts exhibition. Sainte Foy, which is just 3 miles from the centre of Lyon, will be holding its 7th biennial week-long European festival, which has always included music and dance, and drama, theatre and cinema. For the first time this year, they are organising, as an additional event, a European Exhibition of the Arts, which will be displayed at six different venues throughout the town.

An artist from Lichfield is invited to attend, together with artists from Limburg (Lichfield's German twin town), Kraljevo (Sainte Foy's Serbian partner town) and artists, both professional and amateur, from Sainte Foy, from Mon 9 - Wed 18 May 2011. The theme of the exhibition is "Europe", and artists are invited to exhibit, for sale, four items, all in the same style and medium. The Lichfield artist's work is likely to be displayed in the Espace Culturel Jean Salles, a prestigious exhibition space close to the Town Hall.

The artists will be accommodated by host families in Sainte Foy, and the twinning committee of Sainte Foy will support the travel costs. Artists will be on duty staffing the exhibition during the afternoons; at other times, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore and even paint / sketch / photograph, etc the surrounding area. Application forms are to be completed preferably by 25 February, to be forwarded to Sainte Foy for a selection, if required, to be made.

Further details, including the terms and conditions, and application forms, are available from Julie Dewhurst, Twinning Officer, Lichfield City Council, tel: 01543 309851 or email: julie.dewhurst@lichfield.gov.uk
