Lichfield Lights Up

Published: 14 November 2008

The Festive Season gets under way in Lichfield on Thursday, 27 November when singing star Tony Christie helped by two local school children, will throw the switch and light up the City's Christmas Illuminations. Tony Christie has just released a widely acclaimed new album ?Made in Sheffield'.

The switch-on ceremony begins on the Market Square at 6.40 pm with carol singing led by the Christ Church School Choir, before the official switch-on at 7.00 pm

We are expecting a special visit from Santa, who will be arriving at the Market Square immediately following the switch-on.

The lights are provided by the City Council with support from the Lichfield Chamber of Trade, and local businesses. The lights will be on throughout December and include some 4,000 bulbs, a light canopy over the Market Square and various animated features, at a cost of around £15,000.
