Emergency Severn Trent Water Excavations at The Garden of Remembrance, Bird St - Traffic Disruption Likely

The City Council has been contacted this morning by Severn Trent following the flooding in Beacon Park. They have identified a collapsed sewer within the Remembrance Garden on Bird St  and need to excavate urgently to resolve the issue. The dig will begin on Monday 26 February and will take approximately one week. The Gardens will remain open during that time but a section will need to be barriered for pedestrian safety. Tankers will be on the roadside so there will be an impact on traffic. We have been assured that the area dug will be reinstated.
