New Civic Team 2024/25

The investiture of the new Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Sheriff for Lichfield City Council took place in the Guildhall at the Annual Council meeting on Wednesday 15 May 2024.
The new Mayor of the City is Councillor Sam Schafer, proposed by Councillor E Strain & seconded by Councillor D Robertson.
In accepting the office of Mayor for the forthcoming year, Councillor Schafer thanked his fellow councillors for their support and stated that it was a great honour and privilege to be elected. He also paid tribute to the work of the outgoing Mayor, Cllr Ann Hughes and Sheriff, Adam Burns-Mace, who had together raised just over £10,000 for their chosen charities; Lichfield City of Sanctuary & St Giles Hospice, by holding several events during their year in office.
The new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Claire Pinder-Smith whose appointment was proposed by Councillor R Harvey-Coggins and seconded by Councillor P Knight.
Completing the new Civic Team is Cathy Wood who was elected Sheriff of the City, following a proposal from Councillor P Knight that was seconded by Councillor R Bragger. The Sheriff’s consort for the ensuing year is Nigel Gann.
The Mayor proudly announced his appointment of L/Cpl Molly Taunton and Mayor’s Chaplain, Revd Ian Hayter for his forthcoming year in office.
Following the investiture of the new Civic Team, the retiring Mayor & Sheriff were presented with replica badges of office.
During their year in office, the Mayor and Sheriff will jointly host four events to raise money for their nominated charities: Staffordshire Blood Bikes & Lichfield Food Bank.
