Grant Applications Now Open
Published: 14 October 2024
Clubs, societies and voluntary groups in the City of Lichfield are invited to apply to the City Council for a grant from the Council’s 2025/2026 budget. Application forms are available here, or by email to administration@lichfield.gov.uk, or from the City Council Office, Donegal House, Bore Street, Lichfield, WS13 6LU (telephone 01543 309857). Completed forms must be returned by 20 January 2025.
Each year the Council makes available a sum in its budget to be given out to local voluntary organisations to assist in their work. Organisations helped in the past have included youth groups, sports clubs, arts groups, charitable bodies, and various other societies. Grants totalling over £36,000 have been distributed during 2024/25, ranging in value from £100 to £6,750.
To be eligible, organisations applying for a grant must be local or have a local branch, and must operate for the benefit of people living within the boundary of the City of Lichfield.
Councillor Colin Ball, Chair of the Grants Committee said “We are very fortunate to have a wide range of voluntary organisations, local clubs and societies in the city which support the needs and interests of our citizens. Grants provided by the Council can support an organisation’s general funding or provide help with a special project.
We are particularly keen for grant applications to support one or more of these key priorities:
1. Address issues around the cost-of-living crisis.
2. Tackle climate change and support actions towards achieving net zero.
3. Promote inclusivity across the City (e.g. benefit disadvantaged and marginalised groups).
4. Support and meet the needs of young people.
We feel the City Council’s grants are particularly important to the local community and hope that as many organisations as possible can be helped through this programme. We look forward to receiving applications from organisations with whom we have worked previously and those applying for the first time”.
