Grant Applications Now Open
Clubs, societies, and voluntary groups in the City of Lichfield are now invited to apply to the City Council for a grant from the Council’s 2026/2027 budget.
To be eligible, organisations applying MUST operate for the benefit of people living within the boundary of the City of Lichfield.
Particular weight will be given to those applications for projects/activities that demonstrate one or more of the following community benefits (listed in no particular order)
- Address issues around the cost-of-living crisis
- Tackle climate change and support actions towards achieving net zero.
- Promote inclusivity across the City (e.g. benefit disadvantaged and marginalised groups, or those suffering from isolation).
- Support and meet the needs of young people.
- Promote the cultural and creative life of the city
Organisations helped in the past have included youth groups, sports clubs, arts groups, charitable bodies and various other societies. Grants totalling over £37,000 have been awarded in the current year, ranging from £150 to £6,000 with approximately 30 different groups receiving funding. Grants provided by the Council can support an organisation’s general funding or, in particular, provide help with a special project. The Council is particularly keen to receive applications from organisations which have not previously applied.
The Chair of the City Council’s Grants Committee, Councillor Colin Ball said:
“It’s wonderful to see all the various voluntary groups that there are in our city, doing great work across all our communities. For this year, the City Council has agreed a further key priority - supporting art and culture initiatives across the city. We would welcome applications for this area of activity in addition to our existing priorities.’
Grant forms are available from the City Council’s website. Alternatively, forms are available by email to administration@lichfield.gov.uk or telephoning the City Council offices on 01543 250011.
Completed forms must be submitted by 17 January 2026
