Janet Eagland, and Brian Bacon raised over £4,000 during their year of office in 2012-13, and cheques have now been distributed between their chosen charities.

On Monday 1 July, Councillor Mrs Janet Eagland, presented a cheque for £1,065 to Debbie Hill and Emily Weighill of the Alzheimer's Society, which will be used specifically for the local Singing for the Brain Programme. A further cheque for £1,065 was presented to Frank and Patricia Sulley of the Lichfield and Burntwood Social Club for the Blind together accompanied by former Mayoress Mrs Elsie Smith a regular attendee of the group of some 30 – 40 members.

Former Sheriff, Cllr Brian Bacon visited Lichfield 9th (Saxonhill) Scout Group at their Tuesday meeting and presented a cheque for £2,130 which will be used to purchase specialist camping and other equipment.

The funds have been raised by various events hosted by the Mayor and Sheriff, including a Charity Dinner Dance, a Country Casuals Fashion Show and a concert at Lichfield Cathedral. Councillors Eagland and Bacon would like to thank all the local businesses and groups and individuals who have supported their fundraising activities during the year.
