LICHFIELD'S NEW CIVIC TEAM

Civic guests and dignitaries gathered at the Guildhall on 14 May for Lichfield City Council's annual meeting, at which the new Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Sheriff were elected for the ensuing year.
The new Mayor is Councillor Mrs Janet Eagland. Janet has served on the City Council for 21 years continuously, having been first elected in 1991. She is no stranger to civic office having previously been Mayor in 2001, Sheriff in 2003, and Deputy Mayor in 2011. Janet is also a member of Lichfield District Council and Staffordshire County Council. Her husband, Keith, will be the Mayor's Consort.
In accepting the office The new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Bob Awty, who represents the Leomansley Ward and has been a City and District councillor for 5 years. His wife, Eileen, will be the Deputy Mayor's Lady.
Completing the civic team is Brian Bacon, last year's Mayor, who now becomes Sheriff of the City. He has lived in Lichfield since 1967 and has been a city councillor since 2007. His wife, Norma, who is also a city councillor, will be the Sheriff's Lady.
The evening concluded with the Mayor's Banquet, at which the Mayor's Chaplain, Revd Prebendary John Allan, gave the traditional toast to "Church and State, Weal and Worship".
