Not quite World Cup Fever, but still played with passion, as the Mayor of Lichfield, Cllr Christopher Spruce led the Lichfield City Council team in the Swinfen Broun Challenge Trophy bowls match against the Museum Bowling Club on Wednesday, 7 July. The challenge match has been played since 1926 and the City Council have only won on 7 previous occasions. This was not to be the 8th as the Bowling Club took the trophy with a creditable 136 to 81.

With the refurbishments to the new club house still in progress, the teams retired to the Guildroom for a splendid supper prepared by the ladies of the Bowling Club. The teams look forward to 2011 when the new green and fully restored club house should be ready for next year's challenge cup.

The Museum Bowling Club are always keen to welcome new members and anyone interested should contact the Secretary, Mrs Barbara Currier telephone; 01543 411760.
