Guildhall - Conferences & Weddings

Lichfield’s Guildhall has stood on the same site for more than 600 years. The centrepiece of the building is the magnificent 26 metre long main hall, with oak flooring and panelling, and a pitched roof giving a fine medieval appearance. At the north end of the room is a large stained glass window, transferred from Lichfield Cathedral to its present location in 1891.

The Guildhall has served as a centre for local government for hundreds of years, and  has also been a court, prison, police station, theatre, and fire station. Steeped in history, this city centre location provides a wonderful venue, whether it is a wedding with 100 guests or a small society or club meeting.

There are several rooms available for hire individually or jointly. WI-FI is available in all rooms, and we have a full entertainment licence to 1:00am. All first and second floor rooms are accessible by stairs or lift, and there is an accessible toilet on the ground floor, together with other toilet facilities on the first and second floors of the building.

We do not provide on site catering, allowing you to choose your own caterer to suit your event, your preferences and your budget. We are however able to offer a staffed bar - please discuss this with the Bookings Officer. To help plan your event, we are happy to provide details of caterers and other trades who have provided services at the Guildhall previously.

Special Event Hire - £1,500

There is a 'Special Event' whole building hire available for just £1,500 per day, which includes a number of additional benefits at a very competitive price. This package is ideal for weddings, civil ceremonies and other special occasions.

Please see the 'Quick Links' section of this page for further information about the building and hire rates. Please note we do not accept bookings for 18th or 21st birthday parties.

To enquire about availability, discuss your requirements, or to arrange a meeting to view the building, please contact us on 01543 250011 or email GHbookings@lichfield.gov.uk

Once availability has been confirmed, you will be asked to complete an Application for Room Hire to secure a provisional booking. Our Bookings Officer is on hand to assist with any questions that arise.

Please note there are no car parking facilities at the Guildhall, but arrangements for 'drop off' of items associated with your booking can be made.  Please see the Lichfield District Council car park map for details of nearby parking.
